Ash is a professional drummer and drum educator based in London. Ash began drumming aged eleven, learning the basics from school peers who were also studying the instrument. Ash soon became infatuated with drumming, spending all of his spare time learning, listening to, practicing, and playing with other musicians in bands both inside and outside of school.

 

To progress in his playing Ash moved to Brighton in 2013 to attend, and graduate from the British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) with a degree in Professional Musicianship. Studying under some of the UK's finest tutors including Pat Garvey, Vinnie Lammi, Jack Pollitt and many more. In 2017 Ash completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning at BIMM, gaining invaluable experience in learning and teaching practices, assessment and feedback, and linking and applying educational theory​ to teaching practice.

As a professional drummer, Ash has a wealth of experience in performing live with bands and artists, embarking on tours up and down the United Kingdom and across Europe, playing on some of the biggest stages along the way. Ash is currently the drummer for UK Vintage-Rock band The Karma Effect, recording and performing live with the band since 2020. Ash's playing can be heard on the band's debut self-titled album 'The Karma Effect' (2022), with the record landing a spot at #36 on The Official UK Album Chart. Ash has performed at some of the UK's finest venues and festivals with The Karma Effect including Stonedead Festival, Steelhouse Festival, Planet Rock Winters End, The Sugarmill, O2 Academy Islington, and many more, sharing stages with the likes of Black Stone Cherry, Airbourne, Blue Oyster Cult. Ash is also the current drummer and musical director for the touring theatre production 'Classic Rock Revival', taking the show to large-scale theatres and festivals around the United Kingdom.

When not performing live or recording drums in the studio, Ash can be found delivering one-to-one private drum lessons at his teaching studio in Oxted, Surrey. Ash has been teaching drums privately for over five years, and with over 40 students per week Ash has built his reputation as one of the areas best, and most reliable drum teachers, with a 100% pass rate for all students undertaking graded examinations. To find out more about private drum lessons with Ash please head to the 'Lessons' page.
